Adventure Day in Calistoga

In an attempt to escape Davis for a day, we drove to Calistoga, CA (near Napa) to go for a hike and enjoy the day together.

The Drive There

We took the scenic route on the way there and Scooby was very suspicious of our destination…

We drove around Lake Berryessa and finally started to see some beautiful wineries until…

The Hike

…we arrived! Once we got to the trail head, we embarked on the Oat Hill Mine hike. This trail is extremely dog friendly (“dogs under firm voice control may be off leash”), customizable (length wise) and has beautiful views throughout!! We read reviews online, but didn’t have a real plan of action once we got there. Our hike took a little over 3 hours at a moderate pace (the trail was fairly easy for us), so we estimate it to be 10 miles, give or take.

 The Food

Sustenance! After a long hike, we searched for a dog-friendly lunch place. We settled on a deli with a nice patio and enjoyed pastrami and turkey-pesto sandwiches. Scooby was exhausted… until the food came out. Then he just wondered where his was?!

The Drive Home

We drove home through Napa. Scooby passed out so he unfortunately missed the gorgeous vineyards that lined our route home… his loss!

Spending time with my boys in a beautiful place while exercising and eating… does it get better than that?? Not for me 🙂

What adventures did you have this weekend?
